Pump for Pete

CGHS porter Pete Stewart has spent the last five weeks at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne but hopes to return home soon.

According to ED nurse and instigator of the ‘Pump for Pete’ campaign, Rosalie Walker, when she visited him in hospital last week, he had just received his 26th unit of blood.

“This is just Pete…there are many others in similar positions who need blood too,” Rosalie said.

So while the response to ‘Pump for Pete’ has been “overwhelming”, Rosalie urged people to make an appointment with the mobile Blood Bank which comes to Sale on December 7. “You need to make an appointment,” she said.

Rosalie also urged as many people as possible to sign the Bone Marrow registry. Forms are available in various CGHS departments.
