Let’s get healthy in November

It’s WELLvember … so ‘Let’s get healthy in November’.

This is the theme for WELLvember at CGHS this year with a program that offers a mix of everything … from a street party to health lunches, from meditation to music and from cycling to running.

Held for the first time last year, the initiative encourages everyone to participate in a month of events and activities around the themes of health and wellbeing, as well as providing staff support services.

The launch is this Friday with a free healthy barbecue lunch in the Sale campus cafeteria.

Health and wellbeing is a key component of the CGHS strategy by embedding a health, safety and wellbeing approach into planning and activities to create a robust and sustainable safety culture.

The complete calendar for WELLvember events is being sent out with this newsletter.

The main event of this year’s activities is the White Ribbon Campaign (see separate story).

Some of the other highlights include a Street Party in the Wilson Lodge garden from 1-2.30pm on 24 November with patients, staff, visitors and the neighbourhood invited.  Music and food will be provided.

Healthy Lunches start Tuesdays from 8 November for $8 which inclddes a bottle of water.

First State Super is running Transitioning to Retirement seminars, there will be a stress management seminar with John Toomey from Allianz and a number of workshops around mindfulness, meditation, yoga and massage (see flyers).

Frank’s Run is on 10 November and the CGHS Bike Ride on the weekend of 19 and 20 November.

MUSIC @ Lunchtime featuring Sue Kewming is planned for the cafeteria on 23 November 23 and the Sit/Stand Desk is a procedure launch.

Walk the Stairs is the promotion of walking up/down with some stairwells decorated and the Pop Up Library is at all campuses with health and wellbeing books and resources for staff to actively use.
