Important milestones recognised at Annual General Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended the CGH Annual General Meeting earlier this month.  This was the 2022 AGM that was delayed last year due to the state elections.

A number of special presentations occurred during the event, including awarding a Life Governorship to Mr Brian Cantwell.

Awarding Life Governorships is a long-standing practice of many health services in recognition of volunteers or community members who have conferred a significant benefit on the health service. It has been eight years since CGH last appointed a Life Governor, and it was a great pleasure to appoint another to Mr Cantwell.

Mr Cantwell was appointed to the CGH Community Liaison Committee in December 2009 and has contributed extensively to the discussions and activities of the committee over the span of his 13-year membership. He also participated on the Car Park Working Party which convened between December 2013 and March 2016, to examine issues relating to car parking at the Sale Hospital.

Mr Cantwell, a war veteran himself, visits returned servicemen and women admitted at CGH, and has been a passionate advocate for the health service for many years. Mr Cantwell recently resigned from the Community Liaison Committee, and it was an honour to recognise his broader service and ongoing commitment to CGH.

Further, a series of acknowledgements were made in recognition of staff who have worked at CGH for 20, 30 and 40 years.
